Cyanide, the studio behind Call of Cthulhu and Space Hulk: Tactics, was acquired by French publisher Bigben about two years ago. Since then, the studio has been working on Paranoia: Happiness Is Mandatory, a game that mysteriously disappeared from the Epic Store after being released last year, and Werewolf: The Apocalypse, a game that hasn't been launched yet.

Well, it looks like there's another game that Cyanide has been working on and we didn't know about - Rogue Lords. Just like the name suggests, this is a roguelike set in the gloomy 17th century New England.

Rogue Lords is a game we came up with several years ago with Jérémie Monedero, the Game Director. We are delighted to see the project become reality. We have fantastic synergy with the talented team at Leikir Studio and we can’t wait to reveal our diabolical world,” said Camille Lisoir, Artistic Director at Cyanide.

Rogue Lords is a bit different than your average rogue-like game in the fact that you play as the villain trying to regain the powers lost after a terrible defeat. You'll be taking on the role of the Devil who is using iconic characters like Bloody Mary, Dracula, the White Lady, and Baron Semedi to help him achieve his new goals.

The game lets players choose which character to play with and explore the 3D map where they will meet and interact with other characters. Combat seems to be turn-based, as each Disciple of Evil has a unique set of skills that he or she can use to overcome enemies.

Whenever a Disciple of Evil loses a battle, it's game over. The player loses all character progress and has to start a new run. However, developers say that as a last resort, “the player can call upon the Devil's special powers and cheat via the game interface in order to turn the situation on its head in a brand-new way,” so there's that.

Rogue Lords is co-developed by Cyanide and Leikir Studio and published by NACON, a company owned by Bigben. The game will be released on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch this Autumn.
