The day has finally come for ZA/UM's Disco Elysium to land on PC. If you haven't read our preview yet, we strongly recommend doing it, but if you prefer a very short answer to whether or not the game is worth the $39.99 / £34.99 / €39.99 price tag, then the answer is YES.

Disco Elysium is one of the most ambitious RPGs we've played in a while, and it's not just thanks to its magnitude, but also because of the way it approaches the RPG genre. It's not wrong to consider Disco Elysium a groundbreaking open-world role-playing game with an insane amount of choice and consequence.

The game is absolutely huge, as developer ZA/UM promises at least 60 hours of game time in a unique urban fantasy setting. We've already played through a big chunk of those 60 hours and can confirm that the experience is quite … unique.

In Disco Elysium, you play a detective with a unique skill system at your disposal and a whole city block to carve your path across. Although the first case you have to solve is your own amnesia, there's also an open-ended case and tons of side investigations that you can take on as the story progresses.

The game features 24 unique skills that can be upgraded, over 80 different clothing items to wear that offer various skill bonuses, 12 tools to use, 8 psychoactive substances to discover, and more than 50 unique “thoughts” that you can analyze for even more bonuses.

You can play as a hobocop who lives on the streets and doesn't wear any clothes, or you can be a genius detective that can crack any case with his logic and visual calculus skills. Everything is possible in Disco Elysium and every case or investigation can be solved in different ways. Beware though, as the outcome may not always be the same!

Disco Elysium is now available for purchase via Steam and GOG. Our review will go live when we finally manage to beat the game, so bare with us as we fight the alchool addiction.
