Google is getting ready to launch a new laptop as part of its growing Pixelbook lineup, and according to a new report, this could be called Pixelbook Go.

While at first glance this could just seem to be a model specifically aimed at competing against Microsoft’s Surface Go, the name of the device is supposed to highlight its portability, as Google wants this laptop to be used anytime, anywhere.

As per 9to5Google, Pixelbook Go will use magnesium alloy, just like Microsoft’s Surface, and this is a choice specifically supposed to make the device feel lighter overall.

On the other hand, this laptop will come with touch but lack support for a stylus, so it’ll be more of a traditional laptop without a removable screen, pretty much stepping away from the 2-in-1 form factor of the Microsoft’s Surface Go.

Hardware specs

In terms of hardware, the cited source claims the Pixelbook Go will be offered with a choice of three different processors, namely Intel Core m3, i5, and i7. The available RAM options will be 8GB and 16GB, while for storage, customers can choose between 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB.

The 13.3-inch 4K or full HD display will have an aspect ratio of 16:9. 4K will only be offered on the top-of-the-range configurations in the Pixelbook Go lineup.

Most likely, the laptop will be sold in two versions, black and pink, with both featuring two USB-C ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack to let you plug in your headphones.

Details about how expensive the Pixelbook Go is going to be aren’t available right now, but the source indicates that the cheapest model could be priced at around $799. The device will be unveiled on October 15 at Google’s hardware event when the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL smartphones are also expected.
