14 DAY TRIAL // Should there ever be plans to remake the 1991 classic “The Addams Family,” the Internet knows the perfect actress to take on the role of the charming matriarch, Morticia: Christina Ricci, who played Morticia’s daughter Wednesday in the film.
A photo of Ricci dressed up like Morticia emerged online some hours ago and it instantly went viral. You can see it above: it shows the actress in the character’s trademark slinky black dress (with a very dangerously low cleavage), with dark hair, leaning against a high chair.
The photo first showed up on the Tumblr page Mystical Enchantment and spread online like wild fire, getting fans very thrilled at the idea that a remake was hopefully in the works.
As it turns out, it isn’t: the photo is fake, having been made using one of Anjelica Houston’s ‘90s promo shots for the film. You can find that one in the gallery below, if you don’t believe me.
Even so, the fans are not losing hope. Christina Ricci might not be in talks for a remake, in which she’d star as Morticia, but the Powers That Be can use the reactions to the fake photo to appreciate the kind of interest the remake would generate.
Once they’ve done that, they will know that the time has come to bring this classic back to the big screen… with Ricci as the female lead.
