Satya Nadella asked to re-launch Microsoft Money

A petition is calling for CEO Satya Nadella to bring back Microsoft Money, an application that is described as the “quintessential productivity app,” especially after similar solutions were pulled from the Windows Store.

Posted 4 weeks ago and already having more than 800 supporters, the petition explains that most people were using Intuit's Mint for personal and small business finance, but after the developer pulled it from the store, users were left with no other similar solution.

“Microsoft should step up to the plate and do it themselves. They certainly know how! Microsoft Money was a great application that my wife and I used for years. We only switched to Mint after Microsoft stopped selling Money,” the petition reads.

The letter sent to Satya Nadella then goes on to explain what an improved version of Microsoft Money should do, starting with options to connect all online accounts and ending with partnerships with credit card companies and other financial organizations.

Three versions of Microsoft Money

The petition suggests that Microsoft could launch 3 different versions of Microsoft Money, as it follows: a free app for mobile devices running Windows, Android, or iOS, a full version for Microsoft Office and Office 365 subscribers, and a web version in Office Online that can be accessed using just a browser.

“Bottom line, Microsoft Money is perhaps the quintessential ‘productivity’ app. Your demographic is both personal users and small business users.  Satya and Microsoft, I ask you to do a gut check, and ask yourselves, what kind of ‘productivity’ based platform do I really have without a decent finance app?” the petition continues.

Of course, Microsoft hasn’t yet offered a statement on plans to bring back Microsoft Money, but with the petition getting more supporters, there’s a growing chance that the company at least has a look at this project. Microsoft has become a company that’s listening to customer feedback, so petitions like this have a bigger chance to be successful these days.
