Twitter has just updated its Periscope application for both Android and iOS platforms. Even though the update brings different improvements to these applications, there's one new feature that is available in both versions.

According to Twitter, the latest update brings Landscape support, which means that, when a broadcaster holds their phone in landscape, the video will now be oriented properly for all viewers.

However, it's worth mentioning that viewers can continue holding their device in portrait, or match the broadcaster's orientation to maintain full screen video. Bottom line is that Periscope users will never need to watch sideways video anymore.

Let's continue with the changes brought to the Android version, which have already been confirmed by the developer.

In fact, there's one other new feature included in the latest version of Periscope for Android, which is called Broadcast to mutuals. This means that when a user selects a Private Broadcast, they are presented with their followers that they are also following back.

The iOS version got more improvements

Moving on to the iOS version of Periscope, developers added a new feature that offers users the so-called share indication.

Basically, when someone you follow shares a broadcast, it will now appear in your home feed. Developers have added an indicator beneath the broadcast title explaining who shared with you.

The update also adds the option to share the link to a live broadcast or replay on Facebook. In order to see this option, users will have to log in to Facebook from the iOS Settings app on the device.

Additional accessibility options have been implemented too. According to Twitter, they have made “large steps toward fully supporting” their VoiceOver users.

You can now download Periscope for Android for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 4.4 and up.

For iOS users, the application can be downloaded for free via App Store. It should work smoothly on all devices running iOS 7.1 or later.
