New microtransactions have angered the community

The PayDay 2 gaming community is once more in an uproar after the developers from Overkill introduced another microtransaction-related feature, just a month after the previous scandal.

Just a month ago, Overkill introduced safes that could be opened with drills that would cost real money. To make things worse, the safes contained weapon skins that would provide various enhancements.

This was a problem because there is a very large community formed around this game, on Steam. Even now, with all the issues and the discussions, it's still one of the most played games on Steam. To compound the problem, developers promised a couple of years back that they would never consider the adoption of such a solution.

Overkill continues with its plan

The stated goal of the developers is to provide support for the game until 2017, but at the current level of participation, the studio needs more funds. This is the main reason for the entire debacle.

Now, Overkill has introduced a new update that provides some special bonuses for heists, but only the people who got those skins are getting them.

Things are getting to a point where the forum moderators on Steam, who are part of the community and not paid by the studio, have been receiving death threats, and they are saying they're quitting unless Overkill finds a solution.

"Hey guys so well i'm unhappy that it has come to this situation but it has. We're pretty unhappy with the COP update for a number of reasons. I'm going to discuss this further up in the thread. Due to this situation, myself and Jones are now refusing to moderate the forums anymore," wrote one of the moderators on Steam.

The Reddit users have put together a list of all of the modifications made by Overkill to PayDay 2, and there are topics upon topics of upset gamers. This could end up being a bigger issue than the previous scandal, but now the ball is in Overkill's court.
