The development team behind the Debian-based Parsix GNU/Linux operating system are proud to announce today, January 25, 2017, the general availability of the Parsix GNU/Linux 8.15 "Nev" release.

Powered by the long-term supported Linux 4.4 kernel series (Linux kernel 4.4.44 LTS ships with this first stable release of the new series) and based on the Debian GNU/Linux 8.7 "Jessie" software repositories, Parsix GNU/Linux 8.15r0 is shipping with the GNOME 3.22 desktop environment using the GNOME Shell 3.22.2 user interface.

The pre-installed Linux 4.4.44 LTS kernel is patched with extra features, including TuxOnIce and BFS (Brain F*** Scheduler). The 64-bit edition of Parsix GNU/Linux 8.15r0 can be installed on modern UEFI computers, and the Live ISO images have been compressed using the latest XZ and SquashFS compression algorithms.

This version has been synchronized with Debian Jessie repositories as of January 23 2017. Parsix Nev ships with LibreOffice 4.3.3 productivity suit by default," reads today's announcement.
