Panasonic remains in the smartphone industry, but it's only present in a few markets like China and India. The company announced a few years ago that it would close its mobile division due to very poor results and increased competition in emerging markets.

However, it looks like Panasonic smartphones are still selling well in a few Asian countries, which is the main reason the company has decided to continue to launch new products.

One of the new devices introduced recently in India is the Panasonic P66 Mega, which is now available for purchase for just Rs 7,990 ($115 / €105) outright.

According to a new report, the smartphone is available in three different colors: Electric Blue, Rose Gold, and Russet Brown.

Potential customers will be pleased to know that Panasonic also throws in a free back cover and a screen guard with every P66 Mega purchase.

Moving on to specs, Panasonic P66 Mega is utterly unimpressive for a mid-range smartphone. Except for the massive 3,200 mAh battery inside, the handset doesn't have anything that would make it stand out from other smartphones in the same price range.

Just another Lollipop-based mid-range smartphone

The P66 Mega is powered by a 64-bit 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory that can be expanded via microSD card slot.

The smartphone sports a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and packs an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, paired with a 5-megapixel camera in the front.

Panasonic P66 Mega ships with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, and there's no confirmation that it will receive a Marshmallow update in the future.

Last but not least, the mid-range handset offers 3G HSPA+ and dual-SIM support, as well as other connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB 2.0, FM Radio, and GPS with AGPS support.
