If you have lots of money and always wished to own a very sturdy smartphone, then you might be in luck since Panasonic has just announced the ultra-rugged FZ-N1 powered by Android.

The smartphone is stuffed with lots of certifications for dust and water resistance, but it also features 6-foot drop rating. The rest of the ratings are nothing to sneeze at: IP65, IP67 and MIL-STD-810G.

Software-wise, the device comes with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, but the rest of the specs aren't impressive at all.

Even so, this smartphone will cost no less than $1,500 outright when it gets released later this year. According to Panasonic, the FZ-N1 is aimed at the business rather than consumer market, so this device is not for everyone.

The smartphone has been confirmed to pack a 4.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution, which features anti-reflective and anti-glare screen treatments, as well as rain-sensing touch mode.

It comes with 1D/2D barcode reader and an old 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 2GB (SD), up to 32GB (SDHC), or up to 64GB (SDXC).

There's also an 8-megapixel camera on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and video recording, as well as a secondary 5-megapixel selfie camera in the front.

It's got a docking connector, miniUSB 2.0, 3.5mm audio jack port and supports Bluetooth 4.1, NFC (Near Field Communication), dual-SIM and GPS with GLONASS.

Panasonic FZ-N1 is powered by a 3,200 mAh battery, which is rated for up to 24 hours of talk time or up to 700 hours of standby time. If switched to long life battery operation, the smartphone should provide double those times.

If you decide to go for this ultra-rugged smartphone, then you will be pleased to know that you will benefit from 3-year limited warranty, parts and labor.
