Last week, word came through that, indeed, a “Baywatch” remake was in the making, and that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson would both star in it and produce it through his production company. Zac Efron was cast shortly afterwards, which boosted interest in the project because here it was, bringing together on the big screen 2 of the hottest actors of the money.

Well, Pamela Anderson, who starred on the original TV series and who basically owes her entire career to it, is not impressed. If you ask her (which TMZ did), there’s no chance in hell the “Baywatch” remake will be any good.

Remake will suck, most definitely

TMZ caught up with the blonde bombshell, who played C.J. Parker in the series and standalone TV movies, and she made it clear how she felt about the remake: it was a bad idea because “no one appreciates the remakes.”

She says that a modern studio film based on the series will ultimately end up sucking because it can’t possibly capture the “simpler, sweeter time” when the series was made, so it will have very little in common with the original.

Pam wasn’t asked to come back to reprise her role, so maybe that’s why she sounds as if she’s talking about some brilliant piece of TV-making history and not some show where hot babes ran in slow-mo on the beach, celebrity pundits snicker.

Whether she’s saying these things out of jealousy or not we might never find out, but she’s right about one thing: this “Baywatch” will be a different kind of fish from the original. It’s all on purpose, though.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is thrilled, promises an awesome ride

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was at Disney’s D23 Expo 2015 in California over the weekend, and he talked to the press about the “Baywatch” remake, as the video below will confirm.

It will take only the idea from the original series and give it an R-rated makeover. Whereas the original show was a typical TV drama (with a hefty side of flesh on display), the film will be an action comedy. So, yes, with this in mind, The Rock and Efron are perfect casting choices.

“We want to make a big movie! A fun movie! Fun beach movie! Bring the beach movie back - to the world. But also have something that has edge and has [awesome] action,” The Rock says. “Also has, really dirty, rated-R humor, which is right in my wheelhouse.”

Seth Gordon (“Horrible Bosses,” “Identity Theft”) is signed on to direct, and according to The Rock, they’re yet to cast C.J. Parker. It’s not for lack of interest in the part, though.
