The development team at Blizzard that has worked on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One versions of the coming Overwatch team shooter says that the aim assist feature for the title has benefited from input from Treyarch, the studio which created the most recent installment in the Call of Duty series.

Aaron Keller, the assistant game director, tells GamesRadar that the two teams worked well with one another and the resulting game benefits from the expertise of a company that has been working on home consoles for a long time.

He adds, "The funny thing is, we collaborate with a lot of different Activision studios. We collaborate with the Destiny team when they were building Destiny they wanted to talk to some of the people at World of Warcraft to see how they made some of their content."

The collaboration between Treyarch and Blizzard also included talks about engine features and about tuning tweaks.

Overwatch is a complex video game that needs to cater to the needs of those playing on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 with a controller and also to those who want to use a mouse and keyboard setup on the PC for extra accuracy.

Blizzard is aiming to deliver separate balance situations for the three platforms

Aiming assist is important for players and is part of a bigger plan at Blizzard, with the company trying to make sure that it offers different balancing on each of the devices that are suited to the particular needs of each group of players.

There are no plans to introduce cross-platform play for Overwatch anytime soon.

Blizzard has announced that it wants to sell the coming team shooter for full price to make sure that gamers will be able to get access to free downloadable content after launch, with new maps, modes, and characters that will tweak the formula of the game.

The experience is designed to allow players to switch from one hero to another once they die, which introduces extra dynamism and drama for each match, forcing players to tweak tactics based on the characters that are in play.

Overwatch is set to arrive on the two home consoles as well as on the PC on May 24 all over the world.

A final beta testing period starting on May 5, designed to allow any interested player to see all the heroes and the core mechanics of the game before they make a decision about buying it.
