The team at Blizzard that's creating Overwatch says that it is ready to officially confirm that it is closing down the closed beta stage for the team shooter on April 25, around 10 AM Pacific Daylight Time in all gameplay regions.

The company wants to finalize centralization of feedback via the forums until April 29, when they will also be shutdown, and then focus on the final preparations for the launch of the title, which will be offered to all gamers on May 24 on the PlayStation 4 from Sony, the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PC.

Blizzard states on the official site that, "Our sincerest thanks to all of our Closed Beta testers and everyone in the Overwatch community for participating in this critical part of the game’s development process. Over the past several months, you've shared tons of amazing feedback—and we've collected payloads of useful data—to help us balance, tweak, and fine-tune our heroes, maps, core game systems, and more."

None of the progress that gamers have made in the closed beta will be carried over to the final version of the title, and the company is no longer planning to add new players to the testing phase.

All interested gamers will be able to get a look at a near-final version of the title between May 5 and May 9, with all the features heroes, maps, and modes offered to show off the core features associated with the experience.

Overwatch is focused on team play

The shooter separates players into two teams of six and allows them to switch between characters once they die, which should keep matches interesting and forces each group to have a solid strategy that accommodates individual play styles.

There are four main types of characters, and a good team will have to use all of them and cooperate in order to achieve victory, regardless of the mode and the map that are in play.

Overwatch will be delivered as a classic retail package, and Blizzard says that it has opted not to use a free-to-play system because it wants to give players access to a wide array of content from launch and then deliver solid support, which will include new heroes and maps.

The Tracer character from the game is at the moment getting ready to make her debut in Heroes of the Storm and will be initially offered only to those who place a pre-order.
