Blizzard has announced that a limited event called Anniversary will be made available to celebrate two years since the launch, along with many other features.

It’s hard to imagine that it’s been two years already since Overwatch was released by Blizzard, but here we are. Even if the game wasn’t a big hit right from the start, the number of players has grown exponentially and it’s now a contender for E-Sports.

Blizzard has been organizing limited events for quite a while now, and they seem to be really well received by the community. The same will be happening with the Anniversary event, which will add a lot of new content that includes 50 fresh cosmetic items, and the latest Deathmatch map, Petra.

Play to get the rewards

Of course, since this event will only last for a short while, you’ll have to log in and play in order to get access to the items. That means eight Legendary skins and three epic skins, not to mention the Doomfist, Moira, and Brigitte dance emotes.

Furthermore, previous seasonal cosmetic items, including your favorite dance emotes from last year’s celebration will be added as well, along with seasonal brawls which are returning to the Arcade.

All players who log in for the Anniversary event will receive a bonus Legendary Anniversary Loot Box, which will feature a guaranteed Legendary item.

Blizzard has also promised that Overwatch and the Anniversary event will be playable during the Free Weekend, which will run from May 25 through May 29. If you’re a PlayStation 4 user you will be happy to know that a PlayStation Plus account won’t be needed for that period.

The studio also announced that a new version of Overwatch called the Legendary Edition will be released on May 22 and will include sets of Legendary, Epic, and Origin skins for a total of 15 skins.
