14 DAY TRIAL // Origin has recently announced a new Windows 10 laptop that’s specifically aimed at gamers and supposed to provide desktop performance with the advantages brought by the mobility of a portable device.
The so-called EON15-S is designed from the very beginning to be an exquisite product, so it puts the focus on build quality, with materials like metallic body, custom paint, carbon fiber, and unique designs.
Hardware specifications
The laptop features a 15.6-inch IPS (not OLED) display with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, and although many buyers would have expected a better-quality screen, this configuration is supposed to provide a balanced mix of power consumption and high-quality graphics.
And speaking of graphics, there’s just a single graphics card, namely the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB GDDR5. This isn’t necessarily the most powerful option right now, but it’s a choice that doesn’t increase the price too much, as Origin wanted the laptop to be as affordable as possible.
In terms of processors, there are three different options, as it follows: Intel Core i3-7100H Dual-Core 3.00GHz, Intel Core i5-7300HQ Quad-Core 2.50GHz (3.50GHz TurboBoost), and Intel Core i7-7700HQ Quad-Core 2.80GHz (3.80GHz TurboBoost). The same thing for memory, with buyers allowed to go all the way up to 32GB G.Skill Ripjaws 2666MHz (2 X 16GB).
The maximum amount of storage is 2 TB on a Samsung 960 Pro PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD, and an extra HDD is also offered, this time with the top option bringing 4TB.
You get all kinds of connectivity options, including Wi-Fi, USB Type-C, a media card reader, but not Bluetooth, as well as a fingerprint sensor for extra security. The laptop can run either Windows 10 Home or Windows 10 Pro, depending on the version you choose.
And now, the sad part. The Origin EON15-S can be yours starting at $999, but the price will obviously go up as you upgrade the standard configuration.
