Oracle's Simon Coter announced today, April 18, 2017, the availability of the VirtualBox 5.1.20 and 5.0.38 stable updates for the open-source and cross-platform virtualization software.

Including all the security fixes revealed as part of "April 2017 Oracle CPU," the VirtualBox 5.1.20 and VirtualBox 5.0.38 releases are small bugfix updates that add multiple GUI (Graphical User Interface) improvements, such as a fix for a crash that occurred when attempting to restore the defaults in the Appliance Import dialog.

Moreover, VirtualBox now no longer checks if the Extension Pack is at the latest version available when the user attempts to install a new one, makes non-literal shortcuts work correctly on Windows hosts if the keyboard is not captured, and fixes the mini-toolbar in seamless and full-screen modes for X11 hosts.

Among other improvements, the VirtualBox 5.1.20 release repairs the El Torito hard disk emulation geometry calculation, a fix that was contributed by Dwight Engen, and attempts to improve ICH9 support by addressing a Windows guest issue with more than 64GB of memory.

Also fixed is a crash that occurred when attempting to switch a multi-monitor virtual machine into either seamless or full-screen mode, as well as automatic logins for Windows Vista and newer operating systems in Windows Additions. For more details on all the improvements implemented in these updates, you should check out the changelog attached below.

You can download VirtualBox 5.1.20 and VirtualBox 5.0.38 for GNU/Linux, macOS, and Microsoft Windows operating systems right now from our website. We recommend that you update to these new stable releases as soon as possible. Please remember to rebuild the kernel modules after installing the new versions.
