The smartphone has been recently certified at TENAA

Chinese company Oppo already launched three versions of the R7 smartphone, but none of these models packs a 5.5-inch display. The standard Oppo R7 comes with a 5-inch FHD display, the R7 Lite sports a 5-inch HD display, while the R7 Plus has a much larger 6-inch FHD touchscreen.

However, it looks like Oppo plans to launch another R7 model with a 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution.

The unannounced smartphone has been recently spotted at TENAA, the Chinese regulatory commission, with some of its specs in tow.

At first glance, it appears that the size of the screen will be the only difference between the upcoming Oppo R7s and the rest of the models that we mentioned earlier.

Same hardware, but different display

Unfortunately, we can't be sure yet about the differences between them, since the listing at TENAA lacks some details on the matter. For example, while the Oppo R7s is confirmed to pack an octa-core processor, the name of the chipset is not specified.

Still, since all of the previous versions of Oppo R7 are powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset, it makes sense to assume that the R7s comes with the same processor inside.

The only difference between them will be the clock speed, and given that Oppo R7s looks like a better version of the R7 Lite, it's clear that the first will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor clocked higher than 1.3GHz.

Furthermore, Oppo R7s will pack 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD card slot.

On the back, the smartphone should feature a 13-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, while in the front there's a no less impressive 8-megapixel selfie camera.

Oppo R7s will definitely ship with the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box and ColorOS 2.1 on top of it.

We expect the smartphone to be officially introduced in China in the next couple of weeks, but we hope more details on pricing and availability will emerge sooner.
