Oppo has launched a new affordable device

The stylish Oppo Mirror 5 leaked in a batch of images back in June, and now the producing company has just made the phone official.

As we’ve been expecting, the Mirror 5 looks extremely sleek and might be easily confounded with a premium handset. Sadly, its looks are quite deceiving because the internal specs are pretty low-end.

But Oppo is betting big on looks with this model, explaining that the Mirror 5’s diamond-like mirror pattern has been achieved by utilizing “individual cut-glass segments consisting of different reflective properties, all crafted using a sophisticated ultraviolet embossing technique.”

Now, let us take a look and see what the Mirror 5 offers in terms of specs, but don’t get your hopes too high.

Oppo Mirror 5's spec list is very disappointing

The device takes advantage of a 5-inch display with 960 x 540 pixel resolution (qHD) and is powered by a 64-bit quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2GHz. As you probably know, Qualcomm has way better chips to offer and upper mid-rangers today usually embed an octa-core Snapdragon 615 instead.

The phone comes with at least 2GB of RAM and bundles 16GB of built-in storage (expandable via microSD). In the camera department, things aren’t all that bad, as we have an 8MP main camera plus a 5MP frontal snapper for selfie taking.

The primary camera does bundle an interesting feature in the sense that it can snap 6 consecutive shots and mashes them up together to create a 24MP image.

The Mirror 5 arrives with 3G and 4G networks and dual-SIM. Software-wise, the Oppo Mirror 5 is up to date, meaning you’ll find ColorOS 2.1 on board, which is based on Android 5.1.

Oppo hasn’t said when we can expect to see the premium-looking Mirror 5 arrive on the market or how much it will end up selling for.

Interestingly enough, Oppo also announced the Mirror 5s a while ago, which takes advantage of a 5-inch IPS LCD display with 720p (HD) resolution. Apart from that, the specs of this second handset remain pretty much the same. Although the Mirror 5s doesn’t have that gorgeous premium look like the Mirror 5.

The new phone will be sold in markets like South Asia, Southeast Asia, MENA (Middle East and North Africa) and Mexico in blue and white colors.
