The latest version of Opera 42 has received a few neat updates which, although they might seem minor at first glance, come in extremely handy to those who need them.

Specifically, Opera 42 is the first major browser that comes with a built-in currency converter and if you shop online on a regular basis, you certainly know how difficult to convert prices you come across on various website actually is.

While there were extensions that made it possible to convert currency in a second in other browsers such as Chrome and Firefox, the integrated option in Opera works surprisingly well and is certainly a very nice addition that every browser should have.

All you need to do is select the price you want to convert and have a small tooltip showing up to reveal the price in your local currency. You can further configure this feature to make the conversion to another currency.

Faster startup

Additionally, the browser also comes with personal newsreader improvements, including new options to easily discover feeds, but also with faster startup that should make Opera load more quickly on any system.

“Opera’s faster startup mechanism, introduced in Opera 41, tries to determine which tabs are most important to have available, and starts loading those tabs in the background at startup. In Opera 42 beta, we now take into account which tabs were most recently used before you quit Opera, instead of relying on the order of tabs to determine which ones to load on startup,” the company explains.

Keep in mind, however, that these features are only part of the beta program, so they should become available for all users when the next stable version goes live. Everyone can give a try to the new beta right now, however, so you can download Opera to see all these features at work here.
