14 DAY TRIAL // Ubisoft has just revealed another Legend that is joining Brawlhalla's roster – Onyx. It's the first new Legend of 2020 and the 49th to be available in the game. Players can purchase Onyx for 7,200 gold, while her skins, Guardian Onyx, Project-0NYX, and Soulbound Onyx can be had for 140 Mammoth Coins each.
Onyx's main weapons, Gauntlets and Cannon, helped her escape from the Infernal Realm. All of her signature moves are related to these weapons: side, down, and neutral. It's also important to note that Onyx releases alongside the Cannon update that brings changes to three attacks.
The first one, Side Light had its movement and arc of the weapon swing both changed. Then, Neutral Light has been changed too, so instead of thrusting the cannon forward, this attack now has a forward blast that is followed up with a spin and second blast on hit. Finally, the Down Air attack now shoots a blast instead of swinging the weapon. It shoots diagonally downward and splashes off of the ground.
Onyx has a little bit of a background history that's mildly interesting. After escaping the Infernal Realm, she finds a way to hide from her captors by binding herself to the stone of a castle. For hundreds of years, Onyx acted as the Guardian and Protector of Castle Batavia until the castle finally fell.
The commander of the assailants showed her the depravity of the mad king she defended, so Onyx decided to let the castle fall even if it meant her own return to the Abyss. However, one of the many Valkyries above the battlefield saw her sacrifice and offered her a place in Valhalla before the demons could capture her again.
Players have access to Onyx starting today on all supported platforms – Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC. Brawlhalla is free-to-play, but many of the 45 characters available in the game must be unlocked using in-game currency.
