Chinese handset maker OnePlus has finally taken the wraps off its new mid-range Android smartphone, the X. The OnePlus X is all about design and price, unlike the company's OnePlus 2, which is the company's flagship handset.

First of all, there will be two versions of OnePlus X available on the market, each with its own design layout: Onyx and limited Ceramic edition.

If you think that the choices mentioned earlier are related to the color of the phone, then you're absolutely wrong. Customers will be able to choose between onyx and ceramic material when making their OnePlus X purchase.

Speaking of which, OnePlus X will go on sale in Europe on November 5 for just €270 ($295) outright. In the US, the smartphone will be available for purchase from November 19 for only $250 (€230).

The prices mentioned are for the Onyx version of OnePlus X because the limited Ceramic edition can only be purchased via an invitation system that OnePlus customers are already acquainted with.

Only 10,000 units will be available for purchase

When it comes to price, the OnePlus X Ceramic edition will be launched in Europe in India on November 24 and should cost €370 ($405). The bad news is OnePlus will only release 10,000 units, which is why it's been tagged as “limited edition.”

Moving on to specs, OnePlus X sports a decent 5-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution at 441ppi (pixel per inch).

Obviously, it will ship with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, but OnePlus might offer a Marshmallow upgrade later on.

Unfortunately, in order to cut costs, OnePlus included a rather old quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor inside, though the amount of memory is quite decent: 3GB RAM and 16GB storage.

Since the smartphone features hybrid dual-SIM, you will be able to further expand internal memory via microSD card slot (up to 128GB).

On the back, the OnePlus X packs a 13-megapixel photo snapper with phase-detection autofocus, LED flash ISOCELL sensor and full HD (1080p) video recording. In the front, there's a secondary 8-megapixel selfie camera.

The phone comes with 4G LTE support, as well as other connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB 2.0 and GPS with AGPS. All these are kept alive by a 2,525 mAh battery, which is supposed to offer enough juice for a few days of use.
