OnePlus has confirmed their second security breach in two years, putting the name, email, shipping address, and contact number of customers in the hands of hackers.

Almost two years ago, the Shenzhen-based Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus reported a credit card security breach that affected nearly 40,000 customers, whose credit card details where put in the hands of hackers, after several users discovered unknown payments on their credit cards.

Now, OnePlus reports another security breach affecting their payment system, but this time the company assured customers that their payment information, usernames, and passwords are safe, but their name, email, contact number, and shipping address may have been exposed to hackers.

"We want to update you that we have discovered that some of our users' order information was accessed by an unauthorized party. We can confirm that all payment information, passwords and accounts are safe, but certain users' name, contact number, email and shipping address may have been exposed," said Ziv C. from the Security team.

What you need to know if you're an OnePlus customer

The first thing OnePlus customers who recently purchased goods from the Chinese smartphone manufactures should know is that there's no additional action required on their part, for now. However, due to the fact that your email address was exposed, you may receive phishing emails and/or spam.

OnePlus already took all the measures needed to patch their systems so that no further breaches occur and also informed affected customers about the security threat by email. The company said that it wants to be transparent and promises to share more updates regarding this security breach in the coming days.

OnePlus also confirmed they want to launch an official bug bounty program by the end of December to discover similar security flaws in their website. Until then, affected customers are warned to be aware and vigilant of scam artists who may try to impersonate OnePlus asking them for more personal information.
