The device might first launch in India soon

OnePlus isn’t exactly the world’s leading smartwatch manufacturer, and the company’s first model launched last year left a lot to be desired.

But on the other hand, OnePlus doesn’t want to give up on this market, so it’s now working on a new model that could see the daylight sooner rather than later.

According to a recent report from 91Mobiles, OnePlus is expected to launch a new smartwatch in India, with the price tag likely to catch everybody’s attention.

The device could land with a price tag of less than $100, which means it’ll be one of the most affordable high-profile watches on the market.

Full focus on activity tracking

By the looks of things, the main focus of this new device will be activity tracking, so it’ll come with an army of sensors to monitor your every move.

The smartwatch, which could see the daylight as a Nord-branded model, is expected to feature HR tracking, sleep tracking, and SpO2 readings.

On the other hand, what we don’t know for sure is whether OnePlus is ready to go international with this cheap smartwatch or not.

There’s a chance it doesn’t, but launching it in India first could be a way to test the market reaction and see if it’s worth releasing the smartwatch in more countries.

Unfortunately, without NFC for payments and other more advanced capabilities, it’s hard to believe the OnePlus smartwatch would become a hit. However, let’s first wait and see what OnePlus has prepared on this front and only then see if it’s worth a chance or not.

The debut shouldn’t be too far, though it’s important to take these details with a pinch of salt, as OnePlus has obviously remained completely tight-lipped on its ambitions in the smartwatch market.
