Great news for OnePlus One owners, as the Chinese company has announced that a major update is now available for download. After many months of waiting, OnePlus One users will finally be able to upgrade their smartphones to OxygenOS 2.1.4.

The new version of the OS brings lots of new changes and improvements that have been requested by users for a long time.

Along with the announcement of the software update, OnePlus has reiterated its support towards the first smartphone that brought them glory, the OnePlus One.

“Make no mistake: we have in no way forgotten about the device that sent OnePlus into orbit, which is why we’d like to take this opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to some of our brand’s most loyal supporters, many of whom have been with us from the word go: OnePlus One fans,” explains OnePlus in a blog post.

While there aren't many details regarding the new features and improvements included in this update, OnePlus confirms which ones are not available for its first Android smartphone.

For example, the manual camera mode and RAW file format capability did not make it into this update. Also, no fingerprint support has been added, and neither has a screen temperature slider.

Also, OnePlus claims that all bloatware or unnecessary apps and services have been removed to offer “a clean, unburdened overall user experience.”

In this regard, the Chinese company confirms that it has removed MaxxAudio's proprietary sound technology and all relevant apps related to it.

The update is not available OTA

On the bright side, OnePlus One users will be able to take advantage of new features like Dark Mode, custom icon packs support, App Permissions ability that gives users control of what information each app has access to.

Last but not least, double tap to wake and other gestures already available to OnePlus Two owners can now be toggled in the OnePlus One too.

Keep in mind, though, that OxygenOS 2.1.4 is not available via OTA (over the air) and will require manual flashing. Make sure to back up all info before upgrading to this version of OxygenOS and do not try to flash this build through TWRP.
