OnePlus is expected to launch another flagship smartphone this year, one that will most likely carry the moniker OnePlus 5. The company could skip the number 4 in the lineup, as it’s considered bad luck in China, and go straight to the OnePlus 5 moniker.

Rumors about the upcoming OnePlus smartphone continue to pile up, and the latest reveals that the phone could feature 8GB of RAM, twice the amount found in flagships today. While 8GB of RAM seems a bit too much, it’s quite probable considering that the previous OnePlus 3 was among the first to feature 6GB of RAM. Take this information with a grain of salt, though, as nothing is certain until the smartphone is actually announced.

The report also mentions that Qualcomm’s latest platform, Snapdragon 835, will power the new device, meaning that it will run an octa-core CPU coupled with Adreno 540 graphic processing unit. The screen’s resolution might finally reach 1440 x 2560 pixels, boosted from 1080 x 1920 (FHD) in previous models.

OnePlus 5 could carry a price tag of up to $500

When it comes to the smartphone’s design, OnePlus 5 might feature smaller bezels compared to its predecessor and come with a dual-camera setup on the back. Previous reports indicated a 23MP single-lens on the back, so we’re not quite certain that a dual-camera setup is in play here.

Previous rumors pointed towards 256GB of internal storage on the upcoming smartphone, as well as a ceramic body, similar to the one on the Xiaomi Mi Mix. OnePlus 5 would thus have a premium feel and a dual-edge display, together with a 16MP selfie snapper in the front.

Customers won’t have to break the bank to get their latest OnePlus smartphone, as the price is expected to be slightly lower than $500. More information about the upcoming smartphone will surely surface soon, especially since the phone is expected to arrive in the second half of the year.
