With the release of the OnePlus 3T, the Chinese company is now looking to gain even more fans across the world. Since the OnePlus 3T doesn't really come with major improvements over the OnePlus 3, we don't believe that it's worth upgrading unless the Chinese company offers some sort of incentive to those who own its previous flagship.
The OnePlus 3T does indeed come with many improvements over the previous model, but as we've already mentioned earlier, they might not be that big in the grand scheme of things.
First of all, the phone packs the most powerful mobile processor available on the market, the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821. It doesn't come with a larger amount of RAM, but customers now have the option to purchase the 128GB model that sells for $479. In comparison, the regular 64GB variant costs $439, while the OnePlus 3 still sells for $400.
Another major improvement over the OnePlus 3 is the impressive 16-megapixel front-facing camera, which can take much better pictures than the 8-megapixel photo snapper included in the previous flagship.
According to OnePlus, the 3T's rear 16-megapixel camera features a protective sapphire lens, whereas the OnePlus 3 does not have such a protection. Also, the OnePlus 3T's camera features improved electronic stabilization, something that the previous model lacks.
Even though both OnePlus high-end smartphones pack 16-megapixel cameras, the Chinese company claims the 3T's snapper offers a better video recording experience.
Speaking of improvements, OnePlus notes that while the 3T does not ship with Android 7.0 Nougat on board, it does come with a new Oxygen OS 3.5.1 version that offers a much smoother experience to users, and more customization options.
The good news is OnePlus has confirmed that it will provide an Android 7.0 Nougat update to both high-end phones by the end of the year.
Let's not forget that even though both are the same when it comes to size and weight, the OnePlus 3T packs a larger 3,400 mAh battery inside.
Below, we've put the main specs of these devices side by side, so you can decide if it's worth the upgrade. We still believe that the OnePlus 3T is more appealing for those who own a much older OnePlus smartphone or newcomers.
