14 DAY TRIAL // Chinese OEM OnePlus has already launched two smartphones this year, the OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X. The former is now selling without invitations, whereas the latter is only available for purchase via OnePlus's invite-only system.
The OnePlus 2 was launched in the summer while the mid-range OnePlus X was released on the market this fall. It's hard to believe the Chinese company has enough time to launch another Android smartphone by the end of the year.
However, the first render of what appears to be an upcoming OnePlus smartphone has just leaked from China. The leakster names the device OnePlus 3, which means this could be the company's next flagship smartphone.
If that's the case, we doubt the device will be announced until next summer. Still, the leaked picture might be taken from one of the prototype designs that OnePlus is probably considering for its upcoming high-end smartphone.
This means that the final product might look slightly or completely different. Nevertheless, it's worth mentioning that while the overall design of the smartphone hasn't been changed, the OnePlus 3 might feature a brushed metal on the back, as opposed to OnePlus 2's plastic battery cover.
Snapdragon 820 CPU, 1080p display
The picture comes along with some specs that might or might not be accurate. So, according to the same source, the OnePlus 3 should pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and a large display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution.
It looks like OnePlus refuses to include Quad HD displays into its smartphones possibly for fear of reduced battery life. Aside from that, we can also see in the picture that the device features a front-facing speaker.
Last but not least, the fingerprint sensor is nowhere to be seen, which means that either OnePlus hid it well or the Chinese company will opt for another type of authentication.
