14 DAY TRIAL // OnePlus surprised everyone with a major update release on the last day of 2016. The Chinese company promised to provide the Android 7.0 Nougat update to both OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T smartphones by the end of the year.
A few days before the end of the year, OnePlus released a beta version of the update, which is why we thought the company would miss the deadline. The good news is that didn't happen and OnePlus 3 and 3T owners can now enjoy the promised Android 7.0 Nougat update.
According to OnePlus, the incremental deployment of OxygenOS 4.0 based on Android Nougat started on December 31, 2016, but in the coming days, the update should arrive on all OnePlus 3 and 3T devices.
“For those who were on previous versions for the OnePlus 3, we appreciate your active feedback and attempts to reach out to us. With your help, we have been able to better optimize and improve several key areas. Thank you for your patience and as always, we look forward to hearing your continued feedback in the bug reporting forum,” says OnePlus.
Aside from the usual Android 7.0 Nougat new features and improvements, OnePlus has added some of its own. Unfortunately, not many details are known, but if you've been part of the OnePlus 3 beta program, you probably already know what to expect.
The official changelog mentions the new notifications and settings menu design, as well as the multi-window view. Also, notification direct reply has been added too, along with custom DPI support.
Hopefully, the update doesn't bring any major bugs with it, but if you encounter any issue, then by all means provide your feedback so that OnePlus can fix these problems in future updates.
Now that the Android Nougat update has been released to both OnePlus 3 and 3T, the Chinese company can focus its resources on the development of the next flagship smartphone, which is expected to be unveiled in May/June 2017.
