OnePlus 2 is getting some nifty camera features

The first OnePlus smartphone that was released on the market was launched with Cyanogen OS out of the box, but shortly after, the custom ROM maker signed an exclusive deal with Micromax in India.

This meant that OnePlus was left to its own devices, and soon afterwards the phone maker started work on its own Android operating system dubbed OxygenOS. The OS was vastly developed by a team of ex-Paranoid Android members and came pre-installed on the company’s latest OnePlus 2.

This week, the phone maker is rolling out the OxygenOS 2.1 OTA update for owners of their newest handset, which should be making its way out as we speak.

According to the changelog, this update is aimed mostly at photographers, as it bestows a few handy features which will make snapping images a lot more fun.

The new update improves camera performance

The new update adds a manual mode for better overall control over the camera app and RAW support enabled for third-party camera apps. However, OnePlus does point out that there are still some applications that can’t access the RAW format, but they are currently working to fix the problem.

Moving along, OnePlus offers the possibility of adjusting the color tones on your screen, allowing users to opt for warmer or cooler colors depending on specific preferences. Exchange support has also been added and the issue of lag when switching between normal mode and airplane has also been fixed.

On top of that, you can expect to find the usual bug fixes and general improvements, as is customary with any software update. As is the case with updates such as this one, the OTA is rolling out gradually, so some OnePlus models will be hit sooner than others. The update is 39MB in weight and is dated September 19.

In related news, it seems that OnePlus is readying another smartphone due for release before the end of 2015. A few days ago, a bunch of images showcasing a mystery, unannounced OnePlus handset showed up online, boasting a dual camera setup and a pretty sleek body.

So we expect more great news from the company soon.
