14 DAY TRIAL // One of the most anticipated flagships of this summer is the OnePlus 2, which we expect to see make a debut into the wild on July 27.
Until the OnePlus 2 becomes official, the company is heavily teasing the handset in order to build up consumer enthusiasm. Today, for example, OnePlus’ CEO Peter Lau posted a series of images comparing the OnePlus 2’s camera capabilities to the ones of the iPhone 6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6.
This is not the first time we’re seeing a bunch of OnePlus 2 photo samples, but this batch comes to us via official channels.
The rumor mill hasn’t been able to pinpoint whether the OnePlus 2 will come out with a 13MP or a 16MP camera on board, but we do know that the sensor will be equipped with optical image stabilization.
The iPhone comparison involved night shots while the Galaxy S6 one included macro close-ups, and you can see the results in the gallery embedded below.
The OnePlus 2 seems to don an impressive camera
The OnePlus 2 should become available in a few days, so you’ll soon know the exact spec list of the smartphone. For the time being, we should remind you that the device should arrive with a 5.7-inch QHD display (2560 x 1440 pixels) and a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor with 4GB of RAM.
For those who worry about the Snapdragon 810’s notorious overheating issues, OnePlus says they shouldn’t. The company claims their device is making use of a revised version of the chip (v2.1). Secondly, the phone maker is said to have applied a thermal gel coating and graphite to the handset in order to maintain it at optimal temperatures.
OnePlus’ next flagship will also take advantage of a fingerprint scanner, which is a first for the company. Its CEO Pete Lau also promised fans that the device would be priced under $450 / €408, although the OnePlus 2 was spotted in an OppoMart listing with a price tag of $499 / €460.
