“Very disappointed with the decision,” users claim

Microsoft has recently announced its decision to decrease the amount of free storage for OneDrive users from 15 GB to 5 GB, and unsurprisingly, most of those impacted by this change have decided to fight back by posting their complaints online or even giving up on the service altogether.

The Windows 10 Feedback app, which is pretty much the easiest communications channel between users of Microsoft’s latest operating system and the company itself, is getting full of messages coming from OneDrive customers who do not agree with the changes, most of them asking Redmond to reconsider the free storage cut before it comes into effect.

“The stupidest decision”

Right now, there are several posts on this topic, each with several hundred votes, and the number is very likely to grow as more people turn to the app to express their complaints.

“Very disappointed with the decision to decrease OneDrive storage limits and increase prices today. I will no longer be able to recommend OneDrive to others, and will probably switch to another provider in the next 12 months,” one such complaint reads.

Others, however, are a little bit more aggressive.

“This is the stupidest business decision to reduce OneDrive storage. You will pay Microsoft,” one user whose suggestion received 168 votes so far adds. “Reducing free storage is a huge mistake,” another one adds.

The proposed changes are supposed to come into effect in early 2016, with Microsoft promising to offer another announcement when this time comes. Of course, judging by the number of complaints and people who are very disappointed with this plan, Microsoft could always change its mind and actually decide to keep the storage offers untouched, but it’s still a long way to go to see if this indeed happens.

Microsoft claims it’s now a company that’s more interested in customer feedback, so this is clearly a very difficult moment that might cause more harm than good.
