Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S21 most often impacted

Samsung’s latest and greatest software update seems to unleash a new wave of problems on its very own flagships, and a massive battery drain appears to be the worst of them all.

Some of the users who install One UI 5.1 on their devices ended up being forced to deal with awful battery life, all after updating their phones to this version.

It’s pretty clear the new software version is the one to blame for the whole thing, especially because, as SamMobile notes, everything was working just fine before the update.

At the same time, some users seem to be complaining about their phones overheating, which kind of explains the battery drain.

“Even since updating the s22 ultra by normal text is getting hot as much as I have to put it down. That only happen after updating the phone to one UI 5.1 it wasn't like that. Battery drain in this phone always been bad so I couldn't comment on that,” one user explains.

No workaround, Samsung tight-lipped on patch

For the time being, a fix doesn’t seem to exist. Some users claim the battery drain is caused by the Samsung Keyboard app, and one way to improve the experience is to clear the cache and the data of this app. The battery drain seems to be partially addressed, some users say, but on the other hand, a full fix from Samsung is still required.

At this point, it looks like the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S23 are most often affected by the glitches, with the battery drain almost exclusive to these devices.

Samsung has so far remained tight-lipped on the bug and whether it’s at least looking into reports, so you’d better not hold your breath for a fix right now.
