And honestly, it wasn’t too difficult to guess it anyway

Microsoft hasn’t used any fancy names for its latest Windows 10 feature updates, and by the looks of things, the company isn’t planning any major change in this regard anytime soon either.

A recent discovery reveals that Microsoft could call the next Windows 10 update “April 2019 Update,” which is obviously a reference to its release date.

Currently in preview stage and codenamed Windows 10 19H1, the upcoming OS feature update is projected to be finalized in March. As it happens every time, insiders will be the first to get the RTM build, while the public rollout is then scheduled to begin in April to production devices after the testing is complete.

Windows 10 19H1 will launch as version 1903, which again is an indication as to when it was finalized. The first two digits represent its launch year, while the other two stand for the month when the RTM build was signed off. In this case, it’s March 2019.

The second April update

Microsoft calling the next release Windows 10 April 2019 Update isn’t surprising, as the company had used a similar approach one year ago and in late 2018 when it shipped the October update.

However, given it’s the second April update after the original April 2018 Update, such a naming scheme could lead to some confusion in the user community, especially if the version number isn’t used.

For the time being, this is still unconfirmed, but the discovery was made in the latest preview build, so Microsoft itself put the name there. And given that we’re approaching the moment when the RTM build would be signed off, the company has only a few more weeks to come up with a new name.

No specifics are available right now regarding the release date, but we’ll find out more as we get closer to April.
