Earlier this month, Microsoft rolled out a new Office insider build in the current channel, finally introducing a series of features that Apple users would definitely find very handy.

First and foremost, as MSPU noted, the latest build introduces Yahoo support for Outlook on Mac, which means that users can finally add their Yahoo accounts in the app and view not only the mail, but also the calendar events and their contacts.

Word and Outlook are both getting the improved dictation experience, and according to Microsoft, the new dictation toolbar has been further refined to be more reliable. In addition, more languages are also going live for the dictation feature.

“Dictation is now available in more languages. With the addition of more languages, more speakers worldwide can use speech-to-text. Dictation now supports seven new languages: Hindi, Russian, Polish, Portuguese (Portugal), Korean, Thai, and Chinese (Taiwan). We are continuing to add more languages as well,” Microsoft explains.

No word on the release to the stable channel just yet

In a blog post published earlier this week, Microsoft explains that adding Yahoo support (along with iCloud and IMAP support) to Outlook is part of the company’s effort to release a new experience for the mail client on Macs.

“From the very beginning our strategy has been to build an exceptional Outlook experience based on direct feedback from you, our users. We've paid very close attention to what you have to say, and since September, we have added more than 50 top-asked-for features to the new Outlook for Mac, including support for additional account types, security enhancements, and more ways to stay on top of your calendar. The valuable feedback we've received has also helped us adjust our priorities,” it says.

All these improves should gradually roll out to users in the near future.
