Beyond Blue, the ocean adventure developed by E-Line Media, the same studio behind the BAFTA award-winning game Never Alone, is coming to PC and consoles on June 11. The release of the game coincides with the World Ocean's Week, a more than appropriate event for a game that focuses on ocean life.

The game will include 16 mini-documentaries that feature footage from Blue Planet II. These can be unlocked by players while they explore the world of the Western Pacific. A new trailer released today offers those interested an early look at what exists beneath the depths. The trailer also shows some of the scientists that worked with the game developers to capture the experience of bringing the deep ocean to life.

Beyond Blue is set against the near-future backdrop of Earth’s oceans and features the scientific support of real-world exploration and outreach initiative, OceanX. The game tells the story of a crew of scientists who set out to test their “Ocean Sense Network,” which has the power to shine a light on the unexplored depths of the ocean as they unravel its endless mysteries.

In particular, the game focuses on the Western Pacific Ocean amid a large multispecies gathering of cetaceans and other creatures. Players will step into the shoes of Mirai, as they use technology to better understand the urgent threats facing these blue depths.

Apart from the 16 mini-documentaries, Beyond Blue will feature never-before-seen footage licensed from BBC Studios’ Blue Planet II, expanding upon the game’s story and educating players about the social and emotional lives of these whales.

The game benefits from famous voices like Anna Akana (YouTube), Mira Furlan (Lost, Babylon 5), Hakeem Kae-Kazim (Black Sails, Hotel Rwanda), and Ally Maki (Toy Story 4). It's also worth noting that Beyond Blue is already available through the Apple Arcade subscription service, playable across compatible iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and Apple TV devices.
