We’re no strangers to Strange Horticulture, a plant-based mystery game announced last year, but publisher Iceberg Interactive and developer Bad Viking purposefully skipped one major detail from the announcement, the release date.

The game’s Steam page does mention that Strange Horticulture will be released in early 2022, but no exact launch dates have been revealed until today. Without further ado, the IGF nominated plant ship mystery game Strange Horticulture is set for release via Steam, GOG and the Epic Games Store on January 21.

We’re not sure if January 21 has any occult meaning, but we do know it’s Friday, which means the beginning of a new weekend and more time to play games. Along with the release date, developer Bad Viking updated the already available free demo, which can be download via Steam.

In Strange Horticulture, players must find and identify new plants. As a simple herbalist, players might discover mysterious powers that could help them unravel Undermere’s secrets or it might make them lose their minds.

Throughout their explorations, players can find clues that will help them learn more about the strange plans they come across. Identified plants will allow players to use their effects to influence the game’s story.

As the only Horticulturist in town and the owner of local plant store Strange Horticulture, players will be visited by a colorful cast of customers, who will introduce you to an occult mystery that could potentially stretch back hundreds of years.

As you explore the lands beyond your store to find new plants and new clues, you’ll have to figure it out yourself which places to visit, and which to avoid. If you’re into investigation genre with a little bit of puzzle and exploration elements, you can try out Strange Horticulture today by downloading the free demo via Steam.
