It's the set in the same universe as Pillars of Eternity

Obsidian received quite a lot of attention during Microsoft's Xbox Games Showcase earlier this week. The prestigious studio has two games in development – Grounded and Avowed, and an expansion to The Outer Worlds, Peril on Gorgon.

While we knew about Grounded, a rather unusual game for a studio that focused solely on RPGs until now, Avowed was one of the biggest surprises of the show, along with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. Avowed is an “epic, first-person RPG” set in the same universe as Pillar of Eternity, a great game that flopped commercially.

For Avowed, Obsidian switched to a first-person perspective, but that shouldn't be a problem since this is the same studio that gave us Fallout: New Vegas. Unfortunately, that's all we know about Avowed at this moment, although Mikey Dowling, Obsidian's director of communications said that more details will be shared “later down the line.”

Judging by the short teaser and the not so many details about the game, it's likely that Avowed is still very early in development. What we do know for sure is that Avowed will be launched on PC and Xbox Series X and that it will be available for free to Xbox Game Pass subscribers at launch.

The other game that Obsidian is working on right now, Grounded is going to be released on July 28 in early access. It will be added to Xbox Game Pass on the same day on both PC and Xbox One platforms.

Unlike Avowed, Grounded is a multiplayer survival game in which up to four players team up to explore a backyard, build their base and try to survive giant insects.

Those who haven't yet played The Outer Worlds yet, have until September 9 to try and finish the game to jump into the Peril on Gorgon expansion. Since it's part of the Xbox Game Pass portfolio, The Outer Worlds is available for free to all subscribers.
