Not many smartphones have been updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but there are only a few tablets running Google's latest mobile platform.

NVIDIA is the first company that releases Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade for a non-Google tablet. Dubbed Software Upgrade version 1.0, the new update is now available for SHIELD Tablet K1, one of the most powerful tablets available on the market.

Aimed at mobile gamers, NVIDIA Shield Tablet K1 received lots of new features and improvements that go along with the latest Marshmallow update.

First of all, NVIDIA announced the update brings a new UI for the camera, which was inspired by Material Design. Also, the update adds new real-time HD Image Effects and enhanced burst photo functionality.

When it comes to UI improvements, the update introduces new customization options that will allow users to personalize Home and Lock screens with different wallpapers created by NVIDIA.

Moreover, the Quick Settings menu can be personalized as well by adding or removing shortcuts and rearranging toggles. NVIDIA also confirmed that Google Now voice commands can now be launched from the lock screen.

The update adds the Fallout Shelter game

Additional system-wide improvements include the option to monitor Memory Usage with the detailed usage of each application, and optimized preloaded apps.

Some power consumption-related enhancements have been implemented too, such as App Standby power improvements and better BT Low Energy scanning power efficiency.

Last but not least, NVIDIA Shield Tablet K1 owners will be pleased to know that the update adds Bethesda's smash hit Fallout Shelter.

Keep in mind that the update is about 665MB in size, so make sure you have enough storage on your NVIDIA tablet.

We also recommend users to back up the content on their microSD card if they opt to use it as internal storage since the update will format the card and wipe all its data.
