14 DAY TRIAL // Despite the fact that many big publishers are pulling out their games from NVIDIA's GeForce NOW, it looks like the game streaming service is quite successful. We're convinced that part of the success is owed to the current coronavirus pandemic, as many people are now quarantined at home.
NVIDIA GeForce NOW has become so popular since it exited beta that the company can no longer handle the number of players trying to access its servers. As such, NVIDIA was forced to announce that GeForce NOW Founders is now sold out in Europe and North America.
The Founders tier prioritizes access to NVIDIA's servers and lets members play gaming sessions of up to six hours. Although the Founders tier is free for the first three months, members must then pay $5 / €5.5 per month to continue to benefit from the advantages offered by the service.
In comparison, the Basic tier is free but you'll probably have to wait a long time until you'll be able to access NVIDIA's servers. Also, you can only play for one hour before the service will disconnect you from the servers. Of course, you can play as many hours as you want, but you'll have to queue after each disconnection.
Since NVIDIA offers GeForce NOW for free for the first three months, most people probably decided to go for this tier. NVIDIA's statement confirms that it has experienced a major increase in the number of players, so it is now restricting access to the service.
“As you can imagine, we’re experiencing a substantial increase in the number of GeForce NOW players and their amount of playtime. As a result, our Founders memberships are currently sold out in Europe and we anticipate North America won’t be far behind. We’re working to expedite capacity by adding servers in our data centers. And we’ll reopen Founders memberships as capacity allows.”
In the meantime, the Founders tier sold out in North America as well, but those who would like to try the GeForce NOW anyway can still register for the free tier and sign up to be notified when more Founders memberships become available.
