Apple launched the Apple Watch Series 4 with much fanfare alongside the iPhone XS, as it turns out, the wearable is the best-selling product so far.

Demand for the Apple Watch Series 4 has reached record levels and waiting times have increased to 3 to 4 weeks. As a result, the Cupertino-based tech giant is trying to resolve this by accelerating production of the device with the addition of a new supplier.

Quanta Computer, which makes the Apple Watch Series 4, is already operating at the maximum capacity, and this is a sign that not even Apple expected to sell so many units of the new-generation wearable.

Increasing production to maximum capacity

However, the company has a backup plan and wants Compal Electronics to begin manufacturing the Series 4 as well. This won’t happen overnight, though, as Compal has previously produced the Series 3.

This means the company needs a couple of weeks to prepare its production lines and to reach the desired output, but if everything goes according to the plan, Compal should start producing the Apple Watch Series 4 at maximum speed in November.

For Apple, this is just perfect timing, as combining the production capacity of Compal and Quanta means the company will have enough watches in stock for the holiday season. Needless to say, this is the moment of the year when the Apple Watch is expected to reach record levels, and Apple clearly wants to be fully prepared for this moment.

Apple Watch is currently the best-selling smartwatch on the market, and the new generation brings features that could help it sell in even bigger numbers. New tools like EKG and fall detection allow the Apple Watch to expand in the health market, becoming one of the most advanced wearables currently on the market.
