14 DAY TRIAL // Not all is fine and dandy for Nokia, as the Finnish company might drop support for one the few apps that are still under its own development, the Z Launcher.
Since its release back in 2014, Nokia Z Launcher has been updated numerous times with new features and improvements. Unfortunately, almost three years after the app's release in the Google Play Store, the developers haven't yet launched the final version of Nokia Z Launcher.
The Android launcher is still in beta and judging by the fact that the last update dates from April 2016, it's very possible that Nokia might have decided to drop support for the application.
In an email to NokiaMob, the Finnish company confirmed that it has no planned updates for the Z Launcher and that the application is to remain in beta for the time being.
Although Nokia did not explicitly say that the Z Launcher development would be canceled, the future of the Android application seems bleak. With no updates planned, it's likely that Nokia wants to make fans of the Z Launcher stop using it, so it can remove it from the Google Play store.
Nokia Z Launcher was launched three years ago along with the N1, the company's first Android tablet, which was aimed at the Chinese market. Due to its popularity among Android users, the Z Launcher was released in the Google Play Store for everyone to test it.
However, the Z Launcher does not come with Google services like Play Store, and it lacks an App Drawer as well. Still, there are many fans who are willing to cope with these missing features and use Z Launcher on their smartphones.
