It appears that the development team at Hello Games working on No Man’s Sky seems to have finally settled on a final launch date for the video game, with Amazon saying that players will be able to get access to it starting June 21 of this year and that pre-orders will be opened soon.

The information comes from an e-mail that the company has sent out to some customers and has been revealed by MammothGamers. It looks like the date on the official store has been changed from the previous placeholder.

Hello Games has not offered any official update on the launch date of No Man’s Sky, and the studio has a position of not commenting on rumors and speculation about its title.

Earlier during the day, the game was also previously offered for pre-order on the PlayStation Network, which might be another indication that the developers are getting ready to make an official announcement, and some of their partners have simply moved faster than they were expecting.

The listing also reveals that the official price for No Man’s Sky will be 60 dollars or Euro, which confirms that the experience is as ambitious as the studio has been making it out to be since it was revealed.

The game was first announced during E3 2014, during the Sony press conference, and since then, the publisher and platform holder has been supporting the development and marketing effort for the title.

Hello Games has made it clear that it wants to deliver No Man’s Sky at the same time on both the PlayStation 4 and the PC.

The focus will be on exploration and unique sights

No Man’s Sky is played from a first-person perspective, and gamers will spend their time moving across a unique universe that was created using a complex set of procedural generation routines, which ensures that everything the player sees and interacts with is unique.

The game features survival mechanics, with gamers challenged to move from planet to planet, see the flora and fauna that dominate each and then transmit information to a galactic-wide Atlas that then gives them units, the in-game currency.

These can be used to upgrade the player's tools, including the ship and the space suit so that they can visit even more threatening environments, which in turn will allow them to experience more unique ecosystems.

As planets are visited and exploited by gamers, they will be tracked and eventually attacked by Sentinels that aim to keep the universe as pristine as possible, and No Man’s Sky also features space combat and visit stations that can offer unique equipment.

Hello Games has said that this is the most ambitious title that they have ever worked on and that they want to deliver unique mechanics and emotions.

The studio has also announced that it will explore the capabilities offered by the new virtual reality tech and that it might create a version of No Man’s Sky that works on the various announced platforms after the core game is launched on the PC and the PlayStation 4.
