A new rumor linked to the Nintendo NX platform suggests, based on information coming from market research firm GFK, that the device will only be able to deliver games running at 900p resolution and 60 frames per second.

The survey which was leaked recently also talks about 4K streaming capabilities for the home console as well as a range of features that allows titles to have functionality that creates interesting interactions involving the core unit and a supposed handheld and independent controller.

The survey also talks about a sensor bar that's supposed to be included in the package for the NX and suggests that the Nintendo Network will become more important when it comes to interactions between gamers.

The information seemed a little weird ever since it was revealed, but a user on NeoGAF has managed to get access to other pages from the GFK survey which show that the company was basically making up the specs and that it was simply testing the market to see what kind of future gaming platforms it was interested in.

It's unclear which companies might be interested in getting access to the information, but Nintendo is at the moment past the point where it needs to evaluate player interest in the device it plans to reveal soon.

The company has a shareholder meeting planned for February 2, and that might allow gamers to get access to some more details about the NX, although it is unclear whether an official announcement will be made.

The new Nintendo device will probably be launched this year

Rumors, quoting sources familiar with the development process for the NX, are saying that the new platform will be introduced before the end of the year, either in the middle of summer or during the traditional fall release season.

Apparently, Nintendo is at the moment testing the manufacturing process for the device at plants in Taiwan, and a full production run is planned to start in June, with the company aiming to have a lot of units ready to go when launch day comes.

Analysts are estimating that the NX might deliver between 10 and 12 million units before the end of the year, which would be a solid performance given the current sales of the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox One from Microsoft.

Speculation about the new device suggests that it will feature hardware equivalent to the other two current gen consoles and will feature a controller that will have a screen and will allow gamers to experience some interesting gameplay mechanics.

Nintendo has also talked about innovation and about the fact that it wants to surprise its fans with the functionality of the new platform, although details are sparse at the moment.

Despite the coming launch of the NX, the company says that it will continue to offer support for the Wii U home console and the 3DS handheld, which includes launching the new Zelda experience, which will use a range of open world mechanics.
