14 DAY TRIAL // The Nintendo NX remains a mysterious device, but new images offer a better look at the rumored controller associated with the platform, although it seems that the design is not yet final and that changes can be made before Nintendo settles on a production version.
The two high-quality shots of the device come from perkele37 on Reddit and show a sleek piece of technology that will feature sticks that will only allow movement in the upper area. The bottom design, on the other hand, will be sort of like a circle pad, with some capabilities normally associated with a mouse scroll wheel.
The pictured Nintendo NX controller also features haptic feedback that's apparently similar to what Apple is using at the moment and also has a classic headphone jack somewhere on the bottom.
The company has not issued any comment on the images and will probably continue to keep quiet about the new platform until it decides to make an official announcement, which might happen during the E3 2015 event in June.
Rumors are saying that some developers already have access to development kits for the Nintendo NX and that trial runs for manufacturing are taking place in factories in Taiwan.
Sources are claiming that production will start at the end of spring and that launch will happen before the end of summer.
The new Legend of Zelda might arrive on the Nintendo NX
It's unclear whether the new platform will be a classic home console or will also integrate the ability to play on the move, and Nintendo has suggested that it is aiming to introduce some features that will make its device more attractive than the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.
The fact that no new details have been announced about the new The Legend of Zelda might be a sign that the company is making it one of the launch titles for the new platform, and games from third parties, including Activision and Electronic Arts, might also be featured.
A recent rumor from Nikkei also said that Nintendo was getting ready to stop manufacturing for the Wii U home console this year, but the company has denied this information and says that it wants to support it and the 3DS handheld for a long period.
It will be interesting to see whether more leaks about the Nintendo NX happen before an official announcement, perhaps offering a look at the design of the entire device.
UPDATE: The first images have been revealed as fake and the second batch might also be staged, which means the actual controller of the Nintendo NX might be very different from what we have seen.
