Nicole Kidman has a new movie opening this year, “Queen of the Desert,” the true story of Gertrude Bell. Though the film doesn’t have an exact release date just yet, she’s promoting it with an appearance in the latest issue of Vogue Magazine.

The mag comes with a spread inspired by the movie and an interview in which Nicole talks frankly about her marriage to Keith Urban, her family, motherhood and her career - but not Scientology, with which she had a brush during her marriage to Tom Cruise.

No Scientology questions allowed

Nicole and Tom were married between 1990 and 2001 and have 2 adopted children together, Isabella and Connor. Tom got physical custody of them in the divorce, which sparked speculation that Nicole was deemed a Suppressive Person (SP) when she decided to leave, which meant that the Church had banned her from ever coming into contact with the kids again.

In an older interview, the actress said that she would never speak ill of Scientology because it happened to be what her children believed in, and she respected their choice too much to even think of doing that. She might not be a Scientologist anymore, but the fact that they were prevented her from bringing up any dirt she might have on the Church in the press.

In the recent HBO documentary, “Scientology and the Prison of Belief,” it was alleged that Scientology leader David Miscavige intervened to break up Tom’s marriage with Nicole because he loved her so much that he started to move away from the Church.

If that was ever the case, Nicole won’t say. Neither will she ever take part in anything meant to unmask Scientology for the dangerous cult it is, Vogue makes it clear.

“Kidman passed on the opportunity to speak to the makers of the film and has consistently turned away requests to comment out of respect for her children with Cruise,” the publication writes.

Tom, Keith and motherhood

In the same interview, Tom and the kids Isabella and Connor get a shout-out. Nicole says she and Tom were lucky there weren’t as many paparazzi around as there are now, and that not everyone was on social media, armed with a camera phone.

She mentions the children with him when she speaks of her experience with motherhood, encouraging all women looking to expand their family to look to all options if natural conception is not a viable alternative.

The one regret Nicole shares with Vogue is of not having met Keith sooner, so they could have had 2 more children. She says having 4 kids with the love of her life would have been “just glorious.”

As a bonus for fans, Nicole also allowed Vogue on the premises of her and Keith’s ranch, for a 73 Questions video. It’s available at the link.
