14 DAY TRIAL // It's well known that HTC will be manufacturing this year's Nexus smartphones, and rumors on the Marlin and Sailfish devices have been leaking for some time now. Most recently, 12 wallpapers for the upcoming phones have surfaced online and are available for download.
A number of 12 wallpapers that will be featured on the Sailfish and Marlin Nexus handsets have leaked online on Postimg (via Android Police). It's unclear if these are the only static wallpapers that will be available on Nexus smartphones. Still, Google is also said to release several new live wallpapers, animations, and functions on the new Nexus devices. Live wallpapers have long been created and used by third-party app developers, but Google has taken its time providing stock live wallpapers.
Some rumors indicate that HTC Nexus smartphones could land on October 4, according to Droid Life. The date could make sense, considering that yesterday LG announced that its LG V20 would be the first device to come with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
Nexus Marlin and Sailfish could arrive on October 4
LG is said to unveil the new V20 in early September, and word is that Android 7.0 Nougat could be released as early as this Friday, on August 5. This is all just speculation at this point, considering that the only hint is linked to the security patch that launched yesterday.
Nevertheless, Nexus Marlin and Sailfish will have some specs in common, but the display on one smartphone will be larger than on the other. Nexus Marlin is said to come with a 5.5-inch screen, as compared to the 5-inch display on the Sailfish.
Both smartphones are expected to come with a fingerprint scanner on the back and USB Type-C ports. Nexus Marlin could pack a 12MP rear camera and a 3,450mAh battery and should provide 4GB of RAM. At the same time, Sailfish could come with a Snapdragon 820 processor and a 2,770mAh battery. Leaks also suggest that Nexus Marlin could have an all-metal body while Sailfish might sport plastic panels.
