Rumors about Google's upcoming Nexus smartphones continue to pile up, and although the search giant is still mum on specs, sources familiar with the company's plans keep feeding us with info.

Unfortunately, there's no telling how accurate these leaked details are until Google announces the Nexus smartphones later this fall. Until then though, here is something that will blow your mind, especially if you're a fan of Google's Nexus brand.

It looks like the Nexus 5 (2015), one of the smartphones that Google plans to announce this fall, has just been spotted in AnTuTu benchmark.

That's not unusual since Google, like all the other handset makers, is giving prototype units for testing purposes before the company settles on a specific hardware configuration.

Some of those lucky enough to get their hands on prototype units are publishing the results of these benchmarks using the phone's actual codename that usually leaks ahead of that.

Now, the Nexus 5 (2015) benchmark results are quite insane. The smartphone scored more than 85k points in AnTuTu, which is ridiculously high.

No Quad HD display for the Nexus 5 (2015)?

If the numbers are correct, it means Nexus 5 (2015) outperformed the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge smartphones, which are currently the most powerful on the market, by no less than 20k points.

Nexus 5 (2015)'s insane achievement might be due to the unreleased Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset that is said to power the smartphone.

Apart from the high benchmark score, we also noticed that AnTuTu has detected the Nexus 5 (2015)'s display as having full HD (1080p) resolution.

Previous rumors point to a Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution display for the next Nexus smartphones, which is why we believe the prototype unit might have reported the screen's resolution wrongly.

There's also the possibility that this unit might come with a full HD display instead of the rumored Quad HD screen. Either way, we're sure that we'll be getting more info on the upcoming Nexus smartphones in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
