Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Launches in October

Although it's common knowledge that Activision Blizzard is launching a new Call of Duty game every year, each new title visits a certain period in history. Last year, the publisher released Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, its sixteenth entry in the series and also a reboot of the Modern Warfare series.

The game is set in a separate timeline from the other Modern Warfare games, but it does include some of the beloved characters such as Captain Price. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was developed by Infinity Ward, but two other studios are being rotated and allowed to work on the series – Treyarch and Sledgehammer Games.

Every year, a new Call of Duty game launches in October and 2020 is no exception to the rule. If you're a Call of Duty fan, we have some major news for you. It looks like the next game in the series is set during the cold war.

Leaked by a bag of Doritos (via ModernWarzone), the name of the next game in the series is Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The ad mentions that Doritos Double XP ends in January 2021, confirming that the game will launch before the end of 2020.

The images captured from the Doritos bag also reveal that the promo starts on October 5, which comes in line with everything Activision Blizzard has done in the past when it comes to marketing. Last year, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare had a Mountain Dew promotion that started around the same time, so it looks like this year the publisher chose Doritos for the Call of Duty marketing campaign.

Unfortunately, the promo doesn't reveal any details about the game apart from its name. Well, at least now we know what to expect from the next Call of Duty title.
