A lot of new features have landed with the novel update

The New Xbox One Experience has finally arrived for the Microsoft-built console, and it's a massive update, both in scope and in features.

We've been talking about the New Xbox One Experience for a while now, and it's not actually a surprise. This version of the OS for Xbox One has been available for testing, and its features are known. Even so, it's going to be quite a shock for Xbox One users after they apply this small 1.2 GB update.

The name "New Xbox One Experience" is quite representative of what's been added, and there is no way to say this in any other way. The new Xbox One now looks like a lot more like a Windows 10 OS than anything else.

Now, don't be worried that you won't be able to find your way around the interface. A good chunk of the old design is still there, so it's not going to be an alien interface, but there is also a lot of the Windows 10 start menu, and that's immediately obvious.

Backwards compatibility, the biggest feature of them all

A new UI is nice and all, but people really wanted to have backwards compatibility for Xbox 360 games. A lot of users have massive libraries of games that are now just sitting on the shelf, and some of those titles are still playable. This new update allows users to play some of these games, but not all.

"Now you can play a growing number of your Xbox 360 games on Xbox One at no additional cost. With over 100 titles slated for this fall, and hundreds more in the months to come, Xbox One is now the best place to play your Xbox 360 games," reads the xbox.com website. More games are slated to be made available in the future.

Another cool feature, albeit rather pointless, is the ability to stream games on the PC. This sounds really good in theory but has little practical value.

There are way too many new additions to cover, so you should really check xbox.com for details about the fresh social, TV, and Internet features that have been added.
