Microsoft has released a new Windows Feature Experience Pack for users enrolled in the Windows Insider program in the Beta and Release Preview Channels.

The new release is version 120.2212.3530.0 and is therefore available for users who are currently running the latest 21H1 build (in the Beta channel) or the most recent 20H2 build (in the Release Preview channel).

However, it only includes one change, as Microsoft uses this Windows Feature Experience Pack to improve the reliability of displaying the candidate list for users of the IME.

The new Windows Feature Experience Packs

Microsoft is using Windows Feature Experience Packs to ship new features to Windows 10 devices without the need for major updates, and right now, the company is testing this new method of servicing as part of the Windows Insider program.

“We are testing this new process out with Insiders to deliver new feature improvements to customers outside of major Windows 10 feature updates. Right now, we are starting out with a really scoped set of features and improvements. Over time, we hope to expand the scope and the frequency of releases in the future. Eventually, these Windows Feature Experience Pack updates will get folded into the already existing servicing process for Windows 10 and delivered to customers that way through Windows Update,” Microsoft explains.

The next big feature update on the radar is Windows 10 21H1, which is projected to go live as soon as this spring. As per Microsoft’s typical release calendar, the launch should take place in April or May, with insiders to obviously receive the final build ahead of everybody else.

Microsoft has already confirmed the 21H1 update would be just a small release landing in the form of a monthly quality update, also known as cumulative updates.
